Meet Carmine & Cheryl Farruggia of Cloran Mansion
How many years have you been innkeepers?
We will be marking our 16th year as innkeepers this August. We were married two weeks before coming to Galena and starting our new lives together and our new business.
What is your favorite part about our community/Galena?
Over the years we have served on numerous committee’s, board positions and volunteered for many events. Cheryl left a career in health care to become and innkeeper. Serving on the hospital board offered her an opportunity to stay current and involved but not directly responsible. Our local hospital, Midwest Medical Center, was faced with many challenges during its building and as our health care system changed, but now Midwest Medical is now an intricate part of the community. Carmine enjoyed serving on the Visit Galena Board where he was able to us his marketing skills to enhance the visitors interaction and experiences in Galena and Jo Daviess county.
Favorite event in Galena or way to participate and give back?
It is hard to mention just one event. Being a member of the Lyons club and working their annual Oktoberfest is always great fun! They give back so much to the community with glasses and sight support being just a portion of the contribution they make. We always enjoy the Ladies Getaway when the men of the Best of Galena work Quarter Mania. The ladies enjoy the men collecting their quarters and cheering them on for their bids. Of course we can’t forget to mention Best of Galena’s annual Progressive Dinner where guests get to see all of the B&B’s decorated for the Holidays while enjoying a wonderful meal and conversation.
What fun things can your guests expect when they stay at Cloran?
Our guest always enjoy hearing our story and learning about the Cloran Mansion. Fort us, it is great joy welcoming home our repeat guests.
We have hosted over 175 intimate weddings and 50 renewal of vows. Our niche in the market is the romantic getaway for anniversaries, engagements and special celebrations.
